White to play and force checkmate in 2. Tap a piece, tap where it goes. Only one first move works.
Mate is a free daily chess puzzle from Source of Truths. Every position has White to play and a forced checkmate, and your job is to find it. Tap a piece and its legal squares light up, so you never need to know chess notation to play.
Each board has exactly one first move that works, verified by two independent solvers, and the mate is in exactly the stated number of moves, never fewer. You play the line out to the end: Black answers your key move with its best defence and you have to finish. A move that does not force mate is refused rather than punished with a lost position, so the puzzle stays a puzzle.
A new position drops every day at midnight Eastern, and Sundays step up to a mate in three. No app, no signup, play free in your browser, keep a streak, and race the daily leaderboard. More dailies: Etch, our daily nonogram, Suds, our daily sudoku, and Crux, our clueless crossword.
